Colorectal cancer is the Number 1 cancer in Singapore today. Every year, roughly 1000 men and 800 women are diagnosed with colorectal cancer in Singapore. Up to 8% of these are under the age of 50. Of these who were diagnosed, only about 57% of them are curable because many sought treatments at a late stage of disease. However, this is one of the most preventable cancers today and treatment in the earlier stages of colorectal cancer can give more than 80% chance of cure. Dr. Lim Jit Fong
President of the Society of Colorectal Surgeons (Singapore)
Dr. Lim Jit Fong qualified as a General Surgeon in 2003 and has been specializing as a Consultant in Colorectal Surgery since 2006. He is an expert in minimally invasive surgery and functional bowel disorders. He has performed hundreds of "keyhole" bowel operations for bowel cancer as well as other bowel diseases. His expertise in management of bowel incontinence and constipation lead him to being appointed the founding Director of Pelvic Floor Disorder Service of Singapore General Hospital until the time he left SGH in 2011. Currently, Dr. Lim is the President of the Society of Colorectal Surgeons (Singapore).
